Given the review announced by the Home Secretary to the effect that the immediate proposals concerning Vetting and Barring would not be introduced and that a review would be carried out, we have had to make changes to the programme.
You will appreciate that the Independent Safeguarding Authority is already in being and it is only the Vetting and Barring aspects which are under consideration. Given the situation, we are using this opportunity to remodel the afternoon in order to provide a more comprehensive programme for ‘recruiters’ or, in the terms of some other organisations, ‘verifiers’. Therefore the revised programme will include:
We clearly do not know what information we will have in regard to Vetting and Barring as such by the time of the conference. However, the broader approach that we are taking to the day will give ample opportunity for participants to meet with our own disclosure staff and gain a more thorough understanding of the recruiter/verifier roles.
